Seeds Story
After five really busy years after founding the label in 2000, I eventually had some time to take a break and record some material with old friend Yvon Donzel at studio Le Cadran, next to Lyon. only guitars and vocals first, thinking this would remain a demo of some sort. Then I started adding some backing vocals and other melodic lines of acoustic guitars. then we added some bass just to have a listen. I eventually Yann Coste to come and play some drums, which inspired me to add some electric guitars and more bass. It was too late then not to go on. Some strings were added, flutes by Gomoy, harmonium, and Amélie-les-crayons, from the label, came along to record backing vocals too. This all took place between summer 2005 and spring 2006 as work was here again and time shrinking rapidly. So, this is my first personnal album then ! I hope you like it.
I also did the cover, taking a picture of my hand, with that nice little hand jewel i found on the floor in a bar. A friend of mine told me that was an amulet against the evil eye, and that it had come to me. After googling a while, I found that this sort of jewel exists in both muslim and hebraic religion. in the first one, there should be an eye in the middle of the hand. On the second one, a star. As some of the lyrics of the songs were cleary talking about war and its consequences, i thought the coincidence was striking enough to let me decide i would use it. Only, the simplest way not to support one side or the other was to hide the middle of the jewel, which i did.
I told this story to a journalist once, which was a big mistake. As for him, there was (or there should be) no possible peace between these nations, he decided not to write about the album at all. The path to peace really is far ahead i guess.
